The odds of Leicester City winning the English premier league were 5000 to 1 which is the greatest sporting odds any team has won ever. For those who do not follow soccer let me put that in perspective. The premiere league is one of the most competitive soccer leagues in the world where 20 teams compete in league based format throughout the year. Because of the huge amounts of money involved there are certain clubs like the manchesters, chelsea, arsenal and liverpool which traditionally compete for winning the title. A big part of this is the quality of players. The bigger teams are able to spend a lot more and buy players who are a lot more expensive.Among Premier League clubs in the 2015/2016 season, Leicester City spent the fourth lowest in terms of wages for the season. In contrast, Chelsea was the highest at £209 million but yet did not even finish in the top 4 for the year. However the main reason why I consider this is as the greatest upset of all time is because it is a league which you play throughout the year. There have been many occasions in the past where an underdog does well in knockout tournaments because of the shorter time period and the very nature of knock out tournaments where anything can happen on a given day. But to win a league and that too with such style is an astonishing event. It means they had to be consistent over 38 games.All in all this achievement of Leicester gave us all a reason to dream big and reminded me why I love this game so much!
