Heat is definitely one of my favorite movies and I believe it is one of the most underrated movies of the 90s. Enough cant be said about this famous scene (shown in picture above) when the lead protagonists Robert De Niro meets Al Pacino. Right in the middle of the movie when both characters have been developed sufficiently, Los Angeles Police detective Hanna pulls McCauley over and asks him if he wants to grab a coffee. The brilliance of the scene is how the intensity of the movie has been built up to this point and Michael Mann does a excellent job of portraying the emotional core of both the central characters. And it takes actors of great pedigree to pull this scene off. Another unique aspect of this scene is the timing of this scene. Usually the climax of the movie is where the hero meets the villain. But by placing this crucial scene in the middle the director was able to draw the viewers to the edge of their seats and make them crave for more. They talk about how things will pan out if each of them continue to do what they are doing and shows the conviction of both characters. It all ties back together when the two characters meet again at the end and its almost as if both of them had foreseen this would happen. All in all I would say Heat is a perfect blend of realism and style and would definitely recommend watching it.
